Betty Jean Stanley passed away peacefully in her New Madrid home on March 4, 2015 at the age of 83.  She was born July 24, 1931 in Silver Lake, Missouri to Mary Henrietta Thomure Nelson and James Kirby Nelson who preceded her in death. She had seven siblings, 5 of whom preceded her in death.  On May 4, 1947 she married H.L. Stanley in Piggott, AR, who preceded her in death May 15, 2002.  In February of 2012, she became a member of the Church of Christ in Lilbourn, MO. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother -and friend.  Survivors include six children: Sherry (Thomas) Greene of Clarksville, Tennessee; Susie (Larry) Hodges of Dardanelle, Arkansas; Mike (Sandy) Stanley of Sikeston, Missouri; Eric (Phyllis) Stanley of Springfield, Missouri; Dwayne (Katherine) Stanley of New Madrid, Missouri; and Lisa (Harry) Sharp of Marion, Illinois; eleven grandchildren: Denise (Daryl) Norris of Clearwater, Florida; Shelly (Jarod) Burns of Phoenix, AZ; Shannon (Stacy) Stanley of New Madrid, Missouri; Shawn (Nicole) Stanley of Metamora, Illinois; Kerry (Erica) Klund of Jackson, Missouri; Angela (Joe) Knight of Dardanelle, Arkansas; Cheryl (Jeff) Seay of Melbourne, Arkansas; Valerie (Kyle) Duke of Ballwin, Missouri; Tyler Stanley of New Madrid, Missouri; Josh (Bethany) Smith of Springfield, Missouri; and Christian (Kersten) Stanley of Fort Carson, Colorado Springs, Colorado and 18 great-grandchildren. An afternoon visitation will be held at Richards Funeral Home in New Madrid from 2 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, March 8.  Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 9 at 11 a.m. at the First Church of God in Lilbourn with Shane Williams officiating.
