Bob P. Phelps passed away May 23, 2014 at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau at the age of 77 years. He was born December 4, 1936 in Caruthersville, Mo to the late J.N. & Laura Dee Leatherwood Phelps. On June 30, 1961 at Caruthersville he was married to Blendia Atchley who survives of the home. He was a teacher for 31 years. Survivors include three daughters: Deena and Doug Powell, Joni and David Harris, and Allison Birdwell, all of New Madrid; four sisters: Martha Jane & Loyd Rorie of Cottonwood Point, Mo, Betty Nelson of Jonesboro, Ar, Mary Frances and Jimmy Forbus of Caruthersville, Mo, and Teresa and Ronnie Forbus of Steele, Mo; two brothers: Larry Wayne Phelps of Caruthersville, Mo, and Dennis and Connie Phelps of Independence, La; seven grandchildren: Brooke Bradley Farrenburg, Blake Harris, Erica Hardin, Brennen Bradley, Jordan Harris, Addie Birdwell, and Lilly Birdwell. He was preceded in death by three brothers; James Phelps, Charles Phelps, and J.D. Phelps. Beloved Husband, Father, Grandpa, Teacher, Coach, and Friend to many.
