Dalmer Hammett, 91, died May 22, 2013, at the Golden Living Center in New Madrid. Born June 2, 1921, in Middleton, Tenn., to the late John and Daisy Macmahon Whaley, she had a children's daycare in her home for many years. She was married to Johnny Hammett, and he preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by one son, Jerry Hammett; and three brothers. Survivors include: one daughter, Jenefer Baccus of New Madrid; two sons, Wayne Davis of Kingsland, Ga., and Lynn Hammett of Pawtucket, Va.; and seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Visitation is from 5-8 p.m. Saturday at Richards Funeral Home in New Madrid where services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday. Burial will follow in the Mounds Park Cemetery.
