Dorothy Lorraine Ullom Edwards achieved her life long goal when she entered the gates of Heaven on September 1, 2017 at the age of 97.
Dorothy was born to the late Chester and Gladys Ullom in Cartage, Missouri on October 29, 1919. While attending the University of Missouri she met her partner in life, John H. Edwards, Sr. After uniting in marriage in 1939, John and Dorothy returned to New Madrid where she raised her four children, was an active member of the First United Methodist Church and a Steward of the community.
Dorothy was actively involved in the Daughters of American Revolution (Lucy Jefferson Lewis Chapter) for many years.
After the passing of her husband, she became involved in Agriculture and gained the respect of the farming community. In 1994, she received the Prestigious award "Conservation Farmer of the Year."
Family and friends were Dorothy's passion and delight. She loved serving her children, working in her yard, playing Bridge with her friends on Tuesdays. She also enjoyed loving and spoiling her grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband, parents, two brothers, Robert and Everett Ullom, one daughter, Sue Edwards Martin and one son, John H. Edwards, II.
She is survived and blessed with a large and loving family of two daughters, Betty Edwards and Dorothy Leigh Poore, daughter-in-law, Sheila Edwards.

Lesleigh Reeves, Chris and Jeffrey Martin, Anderson Carroll, Lucy Malson, Lauren Edwards, and John H. "Trey" Edwards III
Great-Grandchildren:
Laurel Prince, Hale, Ali and May Martin, Lynleigh and Logan Carroll, Jaxson and Cole Martin, Sydnee and Clara Edwards,
Beloved niece Barbara and Jay Weisner and Nephew, Brad Ullom.
Memorial donations may be made to First United Methodist Church– 627 Mill, New Madrid, Mo, 63869 or St. Judes Childrens Hospital.
