Obituary

Harry A. Perry passed away Oct. 13, 2015, at the Golden Living Center in New Madrid at the age of 89. Born June 3, 1926, in Matthews, to the late Clarence Edward and Florence Weaks Perry, he was a U.S. Army veteran having served during World War II. On June 18, 1950, he married Helen Wathen, and she survives. Other survivors include: two daughters and sons-in-law, Rita and Richard Brands of Portageville and Mary Kay and Phillip Carter of New Madrid; one sister, Jean White of Jackson, Miss.; five grandchildren, Carri Haertling, Sara French, Jim Brands, Laura Carter and Matt Carter; and six great-grandchildren, Chase Haertling, Nicholas Haertling, Jacob French, Ella Brands, Avery Brands and Luke Higgerson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers. Visitation is from 5-8 p.m. today at Richards Funeral Home in New Madrid, with rosary prayers at 7 p.m. Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in New Madrid with the Rev. Daniel Robles officiating. Burial will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery. Pallbearers will be: Jim Brands, Matt Carter, David LaValle, Ronald Pipkin, Benji French, John LaValle and Allen Williams.
