Herschel Eugene Lott, 75, went to be with the Lord on June 27, 2013, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau surrounded by family.
He was born Nov. 19, 1937, in New Madrid. He is the son of the late Travis Lott and Hettie Aston-Lott. He was one of six children.
Preceding him in death were two brothers, J.C. and Bill Lott, and one sister, Annie Lou Williams.
Surviving him are one brother, Donnie Lott of Biloxi, Miss., and one sister, Francis Lott of New Madrid.
He was a member of the United Pentecostal Church of New Madrid. Herschel served as a Boy Scout leader and chief auxiliary police officer for over 10 years. He worked at the family business, Lott's Welding Shop for 57 years, taking over at the death of his father.
He married Margaret Ann Sumner of Marston on June 10, 1957. They have resided in New Madrid for the last 56 years.
He is survived by four children, Terrie Lynn Cowan, Larry Dean Lott, Gary Gene Lott and Michelle Renee Tanner; two sons-in-law, Skipper Cowan and William Tanner Jr.; and one daughter-in-law, Connie Lott. Also he is survived by 11 grandchildren, Shauna Eby, Dana Kimball, Allison Davis, Zachary Cowan, Karrah Tanner, Whitney Tanner, Sophia Lott, Jake Cowan, Clint Tanner, Casey Lott and Aaron Lott; and 12 great-grandchildren, Jaidyn Davis, Kamille Tanner, Peyton Davis, Karyssa Perkins, Harley Davis, Lilli Tanner, Lizzie Cowan, Mason Cowan, Welton Tanner, Kellen Kimball, Gracie Cowan and Liam Gorton
Herschel loved all of his family very much.
Services will be held at the United Pentecostal Church in New Madrid. Visitation will be Saturday, June 29, at 6 p.m. and the funeral will be Sunday, June 30, at 2 p.m.
