Obituary

On the morning of Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2012, the death angel came into the home of Horace Cobb and sealed the lips of our faithful and giving Deacon. For over a decade, he was a member of Mount Pisgah Freewill Baptist Church. He united with our church on Easter Sunday, April 16, 1995, under the leadership of Pastor Moody at that time. Since that time, the Lord has used him in the lives of many people, especially our youth. Brother Cobb has served in many ministries in the church. He served faithfully on our Deacon Board. He was the church treasurer, photographer, chairman for obtaining church ads for souvenir books, maintenance man, Sunday school attendee and good member in standing until his ill health failed. Brother Cobb was a businessman who owned his own store and was never idle. He loved fishing, hunting, camping, gardening and other sports. Our beloved brother, Horace Cobb was born on Sept. 2, 1926 in Casey, Ky., to Annie Mae (Cobb)Turner and Henry Cobb. Deacon often talked about his mother, Sister Annie Mae, and her twin sister, Jenny, who both preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by a son, Donnie, on of the twins and a daughter, Barbara Eperton. Brother Cobb leaves to live on, his devoted wine, Mrs. Mary Cobb, who has stayed by his side over 50 years. Six sons, Morris Cobb of Kalamazoo, Mich., Ronnie Cobb of Miami, Fla., Bernard Patterson of New Madrid, Rochelle "Ricky" Julian of Triangle, Va., Perry (Charlotte) Julian of Cape Girardeau and Ronnie Skinner of Triangle, Va.; two daughters, Youlanda (David) McCain of Dyersburg, Tenn., and Rosemarie Lifter of Sikeston. He also leaves his special loving cousin, Sis. Elizabeth Harris of Union, Tenn. She left her home to be at her cousin's bedside to assist his wife. Borther Cobb leaves 17 grandchildren of which one special devoted granddaughter, Marty Lifter, came back home and would bring her granddaddy to church during his last days while he was still able. The Mt. Pisgah church family truly appreciated that. He was really loved and cherished by Pastor William and church. Our beloved deacon also left a father-in-law, James Wade of New Madrid; and two sisters-in-law from St. Louis, Laverne Mahoney and Emma Wade; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friend. Brother Cobb was a pillar in his community and was faithful to the St. Matthews Grand Lodge AG and FM that he leaves to mourn his memory. His very special friends, Robert Taylor, Bill Bradley and Lawrence "Sugar Baby" Williams will certainly miss their buddy.
