Gene McVay SIKESTON — Joseph E. "Gene" McVay passed away March 23, 2015, at Sikeston Convalescent Center at the age of 77 years. He was born May 23, 1937, at New Madrid, to the late Joseph L. and Nora Young McVay Jr. He had resided in Kalamazoo, Mich., where he pursued his college education and retired from General Motors. He was married to Sandra Bullard for 27 years and they remained close until his death. Survivors include: two sons, Chet McVay of Portage, Mich. and Joseph McVay of Sturgis, Mich.; three brothers, Sterling McVay and Linnie McVay (Trudy) of Poplar Bluff and Charles McVay (Peggy) of Estes Park, Colo.; three sisters, Melissa Zinn (Randy) of Malden, Pearl Russell (Kenneth) of Boise, Idaho and Cheri Shelton of Peoria, Ill.; one grandson, Alex McVay; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Visitation is from 11 a.m. until service time at 1 p.m. Monday at Richards Funeral Home in New Madrid. Randy Zinn will officiate. Burial will follow in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery at Bloomfield.
