Katherine Louise Poyner, of Kewanee, Missouri, passed away September 23, 2013 at the Golden Living Center in New Madrid.
She was born April 17, 1916 in rural New Madrid County to the late Ray and Eunice Rhodes. She was married on September 19th, 1937 in Kewanee, Missouri to Edward E. Poyner. She was a member of the Kewanee Methodist Church and worked as a teacher and seamstress for many, many years.
She was preceded in death by her husband Edward E. Poyner, daughter Bonnie Smith, parents Roy and Eunice Rhodes, 4 brothers and 3 sisters.
Katherine is survived by her brother Scrogg Rhodes, and two sisters Violet Porter and Betty Corgan; her three sons and their wives, Eddie and Mary Ellen Poyner of New Madrid, Fred and Dorothy Poyner of Panama City Beach, FL, Teddy and Debbie Poyner of New Madrid: and three daughters and their husbands, Barbara and RB Payne of Columbia, MO, Janet and Bruce Clark of Wappapello, MO and Sally and Chuck Palmer of Kewanee. Also surviving are 19 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren and her longtime companion and friend Marble Walker of New Madrid.
Services will be held at Richards Funeral Home chapel in New Madrid with visitation starting at 11am until 1pm and the funeral at 1 pm.
Reverend G.L Keene will be officiating. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery.
