Obituary

Leroy Nunn, 86, died August 25, 2014 at the Golden Living Center in New Madrid, MO. He was born on June 24, 1928 in Fitzgerald, Georgia to the late Bessie Adams and Robert Wiley Nunn. On May 22, 1954, in Tunica   Mississippi, he married Jane Ellen Nesselrodt who preceded him in death on January 5, 2011. Mr. Nunn worked at the Missouri Department of Transportation for 36 years and was also a professional photographer for many years. He was a member of the United States Air Force, the Air Force Reserves, and National Guard. He was an active member of the community and was involved with numerous organizations. Over the years, this has included serving as a board member of the New Madrid Historical Museum, Master of the Masonic Lodge, and being a member of the American Legion, New Madrid Eagles, Shriners, and Kiwanis Club. He also served on the board of the New Madrid Chamber of Commerce, which presented him with a Lifetime Achievement Award in 2007. He is survived by two daughters and one son-in-law, Nancy Nunn of New Madrid and Susan and Edwin Phillips of Novi, Michigan, and three grandchildren, Jordan (Keasha) Drury, Wesley Leek, and Winston Thompson. He was preceded in death by one step-son Billy "Skipper" Thompson and one brother, Leon Nunn. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, August 29th at Richards Funeral Home in New Madrid. A Masonic service will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. Memorial donations may be sent to the New Madrid Historic Museum, No.1 South Main Street, New Madrid, MO 63869.
