Martha Fern Forester Rhodes
Martha Fern Forester Rhodes age 79 of Eureka, Missouri was born June 9, 1933 in Alton, Missouri to the late Joseph L. (Babe) and Iva Belle Farris Forester. She passed away April 17, 2013 in Old Hickory, Tennessee.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her two brothers Earl and Carl Forester, her sister June Forester Barton, and one infant daughter, Martha Jo Rhodes.
And she is survived by her son Randy Rhodes of St. Louis and her daughter and son-in-law, Sandra (Sandy) and Patrick (Pat) McClarty of Old Hickory, Tennessee.
Her three grandchildren are Dr. Philip (Erin) McClarty of Dothan, Alabama, Megan (Brian) Beaubien of Nashville, Tennessee, and Ryan McClarty of Jackson, Tennessee. In addition she was a great-grandmother to six; Philip's four children, Caden Paul, Micah Marie, William Patrick and Ruth June and Megan's two sons, Eli Rhodes and Max Robert.
After graduating Alton High School located in Alton, Missouri, she attended Southwest Missouri State College and Arkansas State where she studied Education. After college, she became a teacher at Shilo School in Oregon County, Missouri where she taught all six grades. She then moved to Kewanee, Missouri and became the teacher for grades 5 and 6 for two years. She later moved to Lilbourn, Missouri with her family in early 1956. Shortly after, her daughter, Sandra, was born, followed by Randy just a few years later. After approximately 30 years as a resident of Lilbourn, she moved back to Alton, Missouri to be near her family. In 2004, she moved again to Eureka, Missouri, a suburb of St. Louis, Missouri to be near her son, Randy. She resided at Hilltop Manor an independent living facility for seniors, which was operated by Lutheran Senior Service. She lived there until her illness moved her for a short time to Tennessee, where she passed away.
She loved her children and grandchildren with all her heart and will always be remembered as one who loved the name of Jesus.
Services are to be held at 1pm Saturday April 20th in the Richards Funeral Home, Lilbourn Missouri. The family will receive visitors for one hour beginning at noon.
