Milton Ray Carter, 72, passed away Jan. 28, 2015, at his home in New Madrid.
He was born Feb. 22, 1942, in New Madrid County, to the late Robert Milton and Mamie Holt Carter. He was a member of the American Legion Post 595 in New Madrid and the New Madrid Eagles Aerie 4206. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force.
On Sept. 12, 1964, he married Shirley Jimerson, and she preceded him in death on May 1, 2011.
He was also preceded in death by one brother, Ronnie "Buddy" Carter; and six sisters, Glenda Sue Carter, Gail Presnell, Thelma Louise Harp, Shirley Williams, Patricia Carter and Phyllis Boulton.
Survivors include: one daughter and son-in-law, Dierdre and Robert Green of New Madrid; one foster son, Robbie (Debbie) Kimball of New Madrid; five grandsons, Wally Hastings of Sikeston, Justice and Carter Green and Jake and Jeriod Kimball of New Madrid; three brothers, Robert (Fran) Carter and Gary (Phyllis) Carter of Lilbourn and Phillip (Mary K.) Carter of New Madrid.
Visitation is from 5-8 p.m. today at Richards Funeral Home in New Madrid, where services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday.
Burial will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be: Tommy Sides, Gary Harp, Haden Dawson, Wub Riley, Tommy Whittmore and William Fields.
Honorary pallbearers will be: Kenny Johnson, Ron Gooch, Grady Williford Jr. and Larry Harp.
