Obituary

Preston Clark passed away peacefully Sept. 14, 2014, at his home in New Madrid at the age of 90 years. He was born Dec. 30, 1923, in Cooter, Mo., to the late C.B. and Lila M. Clark. He was a member of the New Madrid Baptist Church. Preston was a farm equipment salesman for over 30 years for Southeast Missouri and Northeast Arkansas. Much of that time was spent as a salesman for Implement Sales Co. of Memphis, Tenn., where he was honored numerous years in the Million Dollar Club. Preston served in the United States Army from March 1944 to May 1946. He served in the American, Asiatic-Pacific and European theaters, where he was awarded the American Theater Ribbon, Asiatic-Pacific Theater Ribbon, World War II Victory Medal, Good Conduct Medal and Overseas Bar. Some of Preston's many joys were spending time with all children, reading, taking long walks, his many dogs and having coffee with his buddies. On Dec. 23, 1958, he married Patsy Henderson, who survives of the home. Also he is survived by a son, Mark P. Clark of the home; a daughter, Susan (Keith) Anglin of Cape Girardeau; one grandson, Tristan S. Frayser of Fountain, Colo.; four granddaughters, Chelsea M. (Todd) Williams of Fountain, Alleigh J. White of Cape Girardeau, Lindsey D. Frayser and Chris Schindele of Kenosha, Wis., and Laura M. Frayser of St. Peters; four great-grandchildren, Claira Wesleigh Williams, Cash Warren Williams, Coy Andrew Williams and Hattie Layne Williams of Fountain; three sisters, Doris Belcher of Olathe, Kan., Melba Chism of Nixa, Mo., and Glenda (Jim) Hull of North Carolina; and one brother, Lloyd Clark of Kennett. He was preceded in death by one sister, Ruby Woodard; five brothers, Floyd, Sherrill, Russell, Edwin and Willard; and one grandson, Jamie Grogan. Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. until time of services at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday at the New Madrid Baptist Church, 1240 Scott St. in New Madrid. Officiating will be Jeff Polk, Gene Lancaster and Dean Wallace. Burial will follow at the Veterans Cemetery at Bloomfield under the direction of Richards Funeral Home.
