Obituary

Ricky A. Ling, 54, died Sept. 9, 2011, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau. Born Dec. 2, 1956, in Sikeston, to the late Edwin and Shirley Shaw Ling, he was a farmer and a lifelong resident of LaForge. Survivors include: one son, Justin Ling of LaForge; one sister and brother-in-law, Tamra and Chris McClellan of LaForge; two grandchildren, Edwin Levie Ling and Caitlyn Ling; and a special friend, Mae Stokes. He was preceded in death by one son, Ricky Ling Jr.; and one brother, Randy Ling. Services were conducted today at the Richards Funeral Home in New Madrid with the Rev. Tom McCanless officiating. Burial followed in the Evergreen Cemetery in New Madrid. Pallbearers were: Justin Ling, Riley James, R.D. James, Daniel Sutton, Billy Moore, Grady Williford and Sam Faulkner. Honorary pallbearers were: Richard Phillips and Edwing Ling. South Solon, Ohio, and Brian Mickle of Washington Courthouse On Oct. 24, 1992, in New Madrid, he married Tammy Mickle, who survives of the home. Other survivors include: two children, Brittany Paige Mickle and Brian Paul Mickle; two sisters, Cheryl Turner of Virginia Beach and Brenda Turner Cox of Lexington, N.C.; three brothers, James Shupert of Jefferson City, Tenn., Jimmy Turner of Sunrise, Fla., and Jason Turner of New Madrid; and his stepmother, Mary Lou Mickle of Washington Court. Services were conducted at 2 p.m. today at the New Madrid Baptist Church. Burial followed in the Evergreen Cemetery in New Madrid. Pallbearers were: Russ Crosby, Mike McElry, T. Williams, Randy Williams, Jeff Decker and Brad Blakey. Honorary pallbearers were: James Sweet, Justin Decker, Phillip Decker, Jason Turner and Tim Colwell. Richards Funeral Home of New Madrid was in charge of arrangements.
