Wavis Gates passed away July 6, 2013, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston at the age of 61 years. He was born March 11, 1952, in Mississippi, to the late Howard Gates Sr. He was raised by his grandmother, Eula Gates of Howardville. He was a lovely person that loved dogs and picture drawings and the Incredible Hulk. He had no children but a lot of toys he loved. Survivors include: two sisters and a brother-in-law, Mayquilla Squire of Florida and Deloris ad Kenneth Martin of Carbondale, Ill.; one stepsister, Leuster Martin; four brothers and a sister-in-law, Jimmy Gates of Mississippi, Tommy Gates of Tampa, King David Gates and Howard and Carolyn Gates Jr. of Carbondale. Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday in the Evergreen Cemetery with Richards Funeral Home of New Madrid in charge of arrangements.
